The wheelchair that travels with you

The Transporter VT409 was not designed for daily use on the street. It was designed for getting around: the airport, the aircraft, a hotel, a hospital, a clinic appointment. It weighs 8.6 kg and folds to a width of just 29 cm.

Those 29 centimetres are the number that matters. A typical wheelchair folds to 33–38 cm and barely stands in a wardrobe or squeezes in beside suitcases. The Transporter folds to about the thickness of a cabin bag and stores upright, without taking up half the boot.

Flip-up armrests for easier transfers

The armrests lift up (flip-up), so the user can move sideways to and from an aircraft seat, hotel bed or chair without standing. It is the feature that counts in tight spaces where there is no room to manoeuvre.

The footrest folds up, cutting overall length from 84 cm to 66 cm — enough to get through narrow aisles and doorways.

Detachable luggage bag

A luggage bag attaches to the backrest and comes off when not needed. In practice it means the attendant keeps both hands on the push handles instead of carrying bags while pushing.

What "transport wheelchair" means

The rear wheels are 8", with no handrims. The Transporter is pushed by an attendant — the occupant cannot propel it themselves.

Small wheels buy you volume and weight, but they cost something too: the chair performs excellently on smooth surfaces (airports, hospitals, shopping centres, hallways) and less well on uneven pavement or gravel. If the chair will mainly be used outdoors on rough ground, look at a model with larger wheels — ask us and we will point you to the right one before you order.

Safety

The attendant controls the chair with brakes on the push handles, while the safety belt secures the user during transport. The upholstery is breathable, which matters when someone is seated for hours on a flight or in a waiting room.

Can I take it on a flight?

The Transporter is designed for aircraft and travel use, thanks to its low weight and 29 cm folded width. Wheelchair carriage policies vary by airline — notify your carrier in advance and confirm their procedure.

Can the user propel it themselves?

No. The 8" wheels have no handrims, so the chair is pushed by an attendant.

How much space does it take folded?

Folded width is 29 cm and packed dimensions are 55 x 29 x 78 cm. It stores upright in a wardrobe or stands beside suitcases in a car boot.

What is the maximum user weight?

Is it suitable for daily outdoor use?
