The Invacare Vicair 4 is designed for wheelchair users who are at high risk of pressure ulcers and spend long periods in a seated position. Hundreds of air-filled SmartCells, divided over four identical compartments, deliver even pressure redistribution and high-level skin protection, helping to prevent and manage pressure ulcers.

The four-compartment layout creates an immersion effect, allowing the pelvis to sink and stabilise in the cushion. This helps to absorb pelvic asymmetry, limits sliding and shear forces, and supports a more stable, functional sitting posture. In many cases, this also contributes to pain reduction in the ischial area.

Because all sides of the cushion are completely symmetrical, it can be placed in any direction (front/back, top/bottom), which eliminates the risk of incorrect orientation – a major advantage in busy clinical environments and care homes. There is no need for air adjustment or pumps: the Vicair 4 comes ready-to-use straight out of the box.

The cushion has a fully ventilated structure, supporting the regulation of the skin microclimate (temperature and moisture). It is 100% machine washable at 60°C, including the air pockets, and the SmartCells carry a lifetime warranty, so there are no puncture/deflation issues typical of traditional inflatable cushions.

The Vicair 4 can be used both as a preventive solution and as part of a pressure ulcer treatment plan (stage I–IV), always under clinical supervision.
